Privacy policy
The short version
- There is no account and no sign-in. Pail never asks for your email address.
- There is no Pail server and no database about you. The app talks only to your own storage provider.
- No photograph, thumbnail or catalog entry ever reaches us.
- No analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDK is in the app.
1Who we are
Pail is published by Singgih Putra Pratama. This policy covers the Pail app for Android (com.photo.pail) and the site getpail.app. You can reach us at support@getpail.app.
2The short version
Pail is a client for storage you already own. Photographs go straight from your phone to your own S3-compatible bucket. There is no Pail server in that path, no login and no database of users, photos or albums on our side, so there is nothing about you for us to hold, sell or leak.
3What we collect
Through the app: nothing. The app does not send us your email address, photographs, thumbnails, album names, file names, bucket details, device identifiers, location or usage data. It makes no request to any server of ours.
If you write to us, we receive the message and the address it came from, and use them only to reply.
4What stays on your device and in your bucket
- Bucket credentials — endpoint, region, bucket, prefix and access keys — are kept on your phone, in the platform keychain. They are sent only to your storage provider, to sign your own requests.
- The upload record and album list live in a database on your phone. To keep several devices in agreement, each device also writes a small catalog log into a
.pailfolder in your own bucket. We cannot read it. - Receiving files over your Wi-Fi from another device uses a temporary page served by your phone on your local network. It does not go through us.
5Your storage provider is your relationship
Your storage provider (AWS, Backblaze, Cloudflare, Wasabi, self-hosted, or any other) is your own relationship. You contract with them and pay them directly; their privacy policy governs what they do with your files. Pail never touches your bill, and it only reads and writes within the prefix you give it. Transport to your provider uses HTTPS unless you choose a plain-HTTP endpoint yourself.
6Purchases and Google Play
The optional one-time purchase is handled by Google Play, under Google's privacy policy. The app asks Google Play on your device whether the purchase exists; we run no server that receives your purchase token, and we keep no record of who has purchased.
7This website
getpail.app is hosted on Cloudflare, which may keep ordinary request logs (such as IP address and user agent) for a short period under its own retention policy. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts.
8Deleting your data
There is no account to delete, because we hold no account. Your data is in two places you control: the photos and the .pail folder in your bucket, which you can remove through your storage provider, and the app's local records, which are erased when you uninstall the app or clear its storage. Uninstalling does not delete anything in your bucket.
9Children
Pail is intended for people 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the date above.
